In 2026 backlog reduced. However, Sierra Leone missions continue to face recurring challenges including unpaid utility bills, limited quarterly budget allocations and chronic foreign exchange shortages.

Target Baseline

" The country perennially faced the challenge of inability to pay all her dues to foreign bodies. China for instance, made some payments for Sierra Leone to the UN."

Comment on Target

While backlog of payments to foreign bodies has reduced, no systematic plan has been put in place to clear all backlogs and prevent a return to the 2023 situation.
